Tips for Choosing a Geovision PC DVR
Card:
-
Determine the number of
cameras that you will need. That will determine how many video
inputs the card will need to have. Keep in mind that if you wish to
add more cameras in the future, you will need to have extra inputs
available.

Decide the resolution
you wish to record at. Geovision enables each camera to be recorded
at resolutions of 320x240 (CIF) or 720x480 (D1).
We STRONGLY recommend recording in D1 mode for all security
applications to aid in identification.

Determine the number of
FPS (Frames Per Second) you wish to record per camera.
We recommend you get the fastest FPS rate your budget will allow and
try to get as close to 30 FPS
per camera as possible.

Determine Hard Drive
Size. The video will be recorded to your PC Hard Drives. It is
possible to store days, weeks, months, or even years of video, but
recording multiple camera feeds requires lots of space. Use the
Geovision Hard Drive Calculator to figure out how much space you
need.
